Every day our team of over 150 scientists, technical specialists and samplers work around-the-clock to carry out over 1,000 tests every day – making sure every drop you use is safe and clean before arriving at your tap.
Putting ourselves to the test
Every drop goes through a lot of testing to make sure it's the highest quality. To do this we use cutting edge technology like mass spectrometry. This clever kit detects the smallest traces of metal and mineral particles in the water to make sure it's safe to drink. We do this by heating samples with plasma to over 9,000 degrees Celsius - that's nearly as hot as the sun.
Our water quality samplers make sure your water stays healthy by carrying out home water quality tests – on average every year we carry out over 100,000 tests at customers’ taps.
We have clever monitors that test water quality day and night, all year round. These machines test for everything including chlorine, aluminium and even the pH levels in your water supply, helping to keep your water fresh and clean.
Investing for the future
We’re always pushing for better results, which is why we’re investing a further £33.5 million during 2020 - 2025 to improve drinking water quality even more.
