Water on the move: slow the flow

Welcome to Anglian Water’s new schools resource pack. This pack has been designed to inform and encourage students to engage with their environment.
Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are one of the ways Anglian Water and many other organisations deal with surface water flooding. SuDS are features you might have already seen around you, commonly in newer housing estates. They have an important role to play in managing water and looking after the environment. This pack will help introduce you and your students to the need and benefit of SuDS, provide fun and educational activities and lesson resources.

How to use this pack:

Anglian Water have created an Overview Powerpoint presentation of teacher’s slides with notes, curriculum links etc. Followed by slides created to use in your classroom, diagrams and a video. Then there are challenges for your students to undertake, Community Action Challenges and Design Challenges.

Please follow the links to download the materials. If you have any problems downloading these or questions about SuDS or the resources, please get in touch education@anglianwater.co.uk
We would love to know what you think of these resources; please fill in this short survey on MS Forms. Water on the Move Survey

Your school

If your school suffers with flooding there are many possible causes and, therefore, possible ways to reduce or solve problem flooding. Anglian Water with many partners such as the DfE, DEFRA and local councils are targeting schools in flood risk areas to install SuDS. Find out about some of the schools we are working with and the types of installations available in our case studies.
If you are interested in getting a water butt for you school we are currently unable to provide them to schools. There is a discount available for water butts at Anglian Water Direct.
You can find about the DfE flood risk management programme here.
