Even the slightest dribble in a leaky loo can waste up to 400 litres of clean drinking water per day – that's the same as 5 bathtubs full. These pesky leaks could also add a whopping £300 to your water bill each year – that's pennies you could be saving.

Leaks in your toilet can often be hard to spot, but they are simple to fix. We've got some tips to help you find and fix leaks in your loo to save water and money at home.

Leaky Loo- Finding and fixing leaks

How to find out if your loo is leaking:

  • Check: Place a piece of tissue at the back of your toilet pan – and enjoy a cuppa whilst you wait to see if it gets wet. Leaks can be small trickles, dribbles, or a constant flow, so look for any signs of water running when the toilet isn't in use.
  • Find: If the paper's wet or torn, you might have a leak.
  • Fix: Don't worry, tackling leaks doesn't have to be complicated as most leaks are fixed on the first visit. You can find a list of approved plumbers here.
