If you are looking to build a new home or a large development we've put together some average costs and information for you along with a breakdown of each project.
What's included?
Working in the road
Depending on the nature of your project we may need to work in the road or use traffic management, the costs of these are in addition to the averages shown and are set by your local authority. The costs involved differ from authority to authority, you can find further information relating to your authority here. Not every project will require us to work in the road, this is only implemented to ensure the safety of the public and our teams carrying out the works.
Out of hours
If your project needs to be delivered out of hours, an additional charge will apply. Out of hours work includes roads that are considered as traffic sensitive, close to schools or other public facilities along with busy thoroughfares and routes. This charge will be applied and working times confirmed following guidance from your local authority.
Need a quote?
Bespoke cost information for your project can only be produced following submission of an application and the completion of a project survey which is provided free of charge. Once you have submitted your application we'll complete an office based assessment followed by a site visit from one of our Developer Services Technicians who will discuss your project further.
1 connection
Customers who pay this would normally have their project completed with 21 days of passing their pipework inspection.
Should traffic management or working in the road be required, this is likely to be minor such as "give and take" or "2 way traffic lights.
4 connections - £839.25 per connection
This is the average cost for a building enabler (small-medium builder) requiring 4 properties connected. Customers who pay this would normally have their connections completed between 21 days and 6 weeks from when their pipework passes inspection but these timescales can be extended to a minimum of 13 weeks if we have to close part of the road.
Should traffic management be required this maybe on the nearside but could extend to far side of the carriageway. This could require temporary traffic lights or even closing all or part of the road which may increase the costs in line with your local council.
10 connections - £500.60 per connection
This is the average cost for a developer building 10 properties. Customers who pay this may have to wait a minimum of 13 weeks from their pipework passing inspection. We may also need to close part of the road or your local highways authority may put restrictions in place as to when a highway permit can be granted.
As works involve multiple connections it is likely that additional costs would be incurred for traffic management, inline with your local authority.
50 connections - £417.90 per connection
This is the average cost for a commercial customer requiring 50 properties connected and may also require a new main or mains diversion. Customers who pay this have to wait a minimum of 13 weeks from their pipework passing inspection if we have to close part of the road or if there are restrictions as to when the highway authority permits us to complete the works.
As the project is for multiple connections it is likely to be more complex traffic management such as lane or road closures and may require out of hours working at additional costs inline with the local authority.
