Anglian Water’s @one Alliance has begun to install 2km of sewer pipe to serve new homes in Kennett, ensuring new residents can use their taps and flush their toilets without a second thought.  
The project, which represents an investment of £755,000 into the sewer network, began earlier this month and is expected to be completed by Summer 2024. 
When new homes are built, Anglian Water has a duty to connect them to its water and sewerage network whilst ensuring that new and existing residents plus the local environment continue to be protected. In February, the @one Alliance completed 95% of its archaeological digs along the route to ensure nothing important would be disturbed when the new pipes were installed.  
The water company will be laying the new sewer pipe from Red Lodge to Kennett to serve these new properties by using a technique called directional drilling, which will enable the team to insert pipes underneath the ground without having to dig up large sections – causing less disruption and reducing their carbon footprint.

Not only will it protect existing residents' services in Kennett, but it will also protect the area from flooding and pollutions in the future. During the work, some traffic management will be needed to keep engineers, residents and road users safe. There will be a road closure on Warren Road from 28 May for one week.  
A new pipe will be drilled underneath trees in Hornbeam Avenue, Red Lodge which will take around seven weeks to complete. The footpath will be closed for these works, and access for residents will be available during this time.
