We’re combining your water and sewerage bills into one

 
You currently get two bills for your water and sewerage services – one from Essex & Suffolk Water for the water you use at home, and a bill from us for your sewerage services, for taking away and cleaning the wastewater that goes down your drains, sinks and toilet.   
 
To make things easier all-round, we’re working together so you’ll get one bill for both water and sewerage charges. So after this, Essex & Suffolk Water will send your bill for everything, meaning you’ll no longer have two separate bills to pay.  
 
That means, you’ll have: one bill, one payment, and one company for you to contact about things like changing payments or moving home in the future. 

 

You don’t have to do anything 


We’ll automatically start moving customers who pay measured charges on a water meter to single bills from the end of January 2024. Customers who don’t pay charges through a meter will have their accounts moved to a single bill in February/March 2024. We’ll be back in touch when it’s your turn, to tell you more. 
 
Essex & Suffolk Water will also be in touch when your account moves over with more information about your new combined water and sewerage bill and any new payments you’ll make moving forward.

An overview of the changes

Why are we making these changes?


We’re working together to make things simple and make paying your bill easier. In future you’ll get one combined bill from Essex & Suffolk Water for your water and sewerage services. You’ll pay both your water and sewerage charges to Essex & Suffolk Water.  

 

 


If you pay measured rates through a water meter, you’ll get your next bill from us at the usual time between February 2024 and September 2024. After this Essex & Suffolk Water will send your bills covering water and sewerage charges.

 

 


We’re moving measured customer accounts over to Essex & Suffolk Water over a six month period. Your meter will be read as normal by them, when your next bill is due. We’ll use this reading to work out your sewerage charges and send out your last sewerage only bill – we’ll do area by area. Essex & Suffolk Water will be in touch nearer the time with more information. 

 


We’ll transfer your sewerage charges in the next few weeks before your next annual bill is sent from Essex & Suffolk Water in February/March 2024. This means your next Essex & Suffolk Water bill and how much you need to pay will be higher, as it covers both water and sewerage charges.  Essex & Suffolk Water will be in touch nearer the time with more information. 

 

 

Bills and payments 

What if I have an outstanding balance on my account with Anglian Water?


When you get your final bill, if there’s an amount owing you’ll still need to pay this to us. If you need time to pay, please get in touch so we can work together to agree a payment plan that works for you. 

 


Your Direct Debit to us will stop shortly after we transfer the detail to Essex & Suffolk Water. We’ll let you know your final payment date and amount on your closing bill. 


If you already pay Essex & Suffolk by Direct Debit they’ll simply add our charges to theirs and automatically increase the amount you need to pay them. They’ll let you know what the new amount is and when your first combined payment will be taken.

If you are currently paying on a temporary payment plan and have an outstanding balance on your final Anglian Water bill this arrangement will carry on. If you’d like to change your payments or are struggling to pay, please get in touch with our Extra Care team on 0800 169 3630. 

 


Don’t worry, we’ll sort everything for you, just continue to pay as you do now.  The only change is that Essex & Suffolk Water will take payments for water and sewerage.  We won’t take any payments once your account moves to Essex & Suffolk Water.  

 

 


We share data with Credit Reference Agencies and we’ll regularly update them on the status of your account including information about your balance, settled payments and debts not paid on time. Charges, tariffs and allowances  

Will my sewerage charges change for next year?


The amount you pay for your sewerage charges in 2024/2025 will be no different if we sent you a separate bill. The bill for your sewerage charges will just come from Essex & Suffolk Water instead of us.

If we’ve let you know your account with us is closed, you’ll need to speak to Essex & Suffolk on 0345 782 0111. If it’s before that give us a call as usual on 03457 919 155.

 


Don’t worry, you’ll still get this. It will appear on your Essex & Suffolk Water bill when they start including the sewerage charges. 

 


Surface water drainage is the service we provide to take rainwater away from your home. If your home is not connected to this system, you may be entitled to a surface water rebate and a discount on your sewerage charges.  


If you already get a rebate for this it’ll carry on and show on your new Essex & Suffolk Water bill.  

 


Let Essex & Suffolk Water know once you’ve fixed the leak. They’ll check if you’re eligible for a leakage allowance for water and sewerage. 

 
If the leak was fixed before we moved your account over to Essex and Suffolk Water, let us know and we’ll see if you can claim a sewerage allowance from us instead.  

 


Managing your account, moving home and Priority Services

What if my Essex & Suffolk Water account is in a different name?


If you need to change your details, you can do this via your Essex & Suffolk Water online account at www.eswater.co.uk, or by calling 0345 782 0111.   

 


Your online account will show that you’re no longer billed by us however you’ll still be able to check previous bills and payments or make a payment for anything you owe on your account.  


If you already have an online account with Essex & Suffolk Water, your sewerage charges will simply be added to this, so everything is in one place.  If you don’t have an online account with Essex & Suffolk, you can set one up at eswater.co.uk

 


If you’re moving home before your account has moved to a single bill, you’ll need to contact both companies as normal. 


If we’ve already let you know that we’ve transferred your sewerage charges, let Essex & Suffolk Water know. You can do this through your online account, at www.eswater.co.uk/moving or by calling 0345 782 0111.  

 


Absolutely yes.  We’ll make sure that you’re on both Anglian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water Priority Services Registers. That way, whether you need help with water, sewerage or your bills, we’re always there for you.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with my sewerage services?


Once your sewerage charges have been transferred over, Essex & Suffolk Water will deal with all of your billing services. This means, you’ll need to get in touch with them if you need to make a payment, let them know you’re moving home or talk to someone if you’re finding it hard to pay your bill.
